The Breakaway is a very important trick. About half of the tricks you will learn for the yo-yo involve a breakaway. It's important that you get it straight and that you get a strong throw to it. It's going to help you out a lot. It's just like when you throw a sleeper but instead of throwing it straight out in front of your body you will need to stand sideways. Take your arm and you turn it out to the side. What you're going to be doing is actually throwing the yo-yo out to the side and then swings all the way around to your shoulder and then shoots back to your hand. You want to make sure to bring your arm all the way up. You may be tempted to twist your hand around but when you do that you do not really give yourself enough time to catch it and it usually comes out a little bit sideways and your yo-yo will be spinning all over the place. So make sure to hold it straight, turn it sideways and get a really good throw coming out and over and let it swing. If you ever do this trick in competition, it has to come up to your shoulder. When it comes all the way up to your shoulder, you bring your hand down in front of your body, it makes it easier to catch. |
