When you apply for a government grant to finance your small business the first thing that you'll want to do is compile the information that you're going to need to apply for the grant. Ideally you will want to keep two running notebooks. For the first notebook, banks and grant people are always going to want some form of financial consideration to look at so you will want to keep all your tax returns. In the second, you will also want to keep your other financial documents such as: your proformas, your actual financials, your tax certificates, appraisals, environmentals, everything to do with your business. There are also sites that you'll want to go to and agencies that will be very helpful. The US Department of Commerce, US Department of Agriculture. Your local Chamber of Commerce may have resources available. You can also go to grantopportunities.com, and also you can run a Google search on grant opportunities. There are some good sites out there that can tell you who not to go to as well. As always, be wary of giving out your personal information. |
