If you ever smell a gas leak, it’s imperative that you locate the leak shut off the gas and have the leak repaired. It is really easy to locate the source of a gas leak. What you will do is use some dishwashing liquid and some water - about a half and half mixture - and a brush. Take the brush and apply the mixture to all of the connections and the hosea around your gas line until you see bubbles form. You will definitely see bubbles foaming out of wherever the source of the leak is. It is probably best to go the full length of the tubing and looking all around to see if you see any bubbles in case you have multiple leaks.
The solution to your gas leak may be as simple as tightening a fitting, but if you locate a gas leak somewhere in the line, then this needs to be replaced. The best thing to do would be shutting the gas off at the valve and calling a plumber. |
