To perform the Yoga Tree Pose begin by standing straight with both arms to your side and feet together. Turn your feet so that your heels are touching and your toes are apart. Raise your left heel to touch the inside of your right ankle. Put your hands on your hips and turn your pelvis back to facing the center. Bring your arms up above your head and you can either leave them straight up parallel to your shoulders or you can touch your palms together above your head. At this point 95% of your body weight is on your right leg. Raise your left foot so that it is either resting on the inside of your right calf or the inside of your right thigh, whichever is more comfortable for you. Breathe in deeply through your nose and exhale through your mouth. Hold this pose for 6 deep breaths. Lower your arms and foot back to the beginning position.
Repeat all steps but this time raise the right foot. |
