To perform the Gentle Yoga Bow and Arrow Exercise begin by sitting on your knees on a comfortable mate. Stand your body up with your knees still on the mat. Bring your right foot directly out in front of your body with your toes pointing upwards. Place your right hand on top of your right toes. Using your left arm, reach to the ceiling stretching as high as you can. You should feel the stretch from your hand to your arm to your shoulder to your hip. As you stretch your left arm to the ceiling turn your head so you are looking over your left shoulder. Hold this pose for five deep breaths. Release by bringing your left hand to your right hand and drop your head down. Hold this pose for 2 deep breaths. Bring your right leg back so that you are again standing on both knees. Bring your left leg forward in same position as your right leg was. Complete steps previously followed.
To release the pose simply spread your knees to the outside edges of your mat and lean your upper body forward so your forehead is resting on the mat and you are sitting on your heels. Your arms should be above your head on the mat. Relax for five deep breaths. Sitting up, walk your body upwards away from the floor using your hands until you are once again sitting on your heels. |
