You will want to use a transmission funnel to fill properly. A transmission funnel is longer than a regular funnel so it can reach properly.
Remove the dipstick and wipe it off. Slip in the transmission funnel. Before you fire the engine you will want to add between three and four quarts so you are not running it low. Once the 3 – 4 quarts are added you should run the engine and move your transmission through all of the gears individually. After you have done this check the levels of your transmission fluid. The last step is to fill the fluid to the appropriate level depending on the make and model it may take anywhere from 4 – 12 quarts.
