The final step in making your dome toad home is to glaze and fire it. You will first need to allow it to dry completely, with no moisture whatsoever. You will need to be very careful moving it at this point because it will have become very fragile. Put the dome toad home in the kiln and fire it once at about 1850 degrees, so that when it comes out it is firm and is now pottery.Put wax on the bottom, then proceed to dip the entire dome in glaze and put it in the kiln again. You will need to turn up the heat this time to about 2230 degrees and fire for about 8 hours. When your dome toad home comes out it will be a completely finished piece. |
