Taking breaks are definately a part of being productive when you are working from home. When working in a home office it is very easy to get into the flow of your work and be so comfortable in your surroundings, because you are at home, that you forget to even eat. You can forget to take care of yourself and while that can work short term, it is not a good long term strategy for working from a home office. You need to make sure you take breaks and you need to make sure that you are eating regularly. Remember that if you were in a regular office environment you would most likely have scheduled breaks as well as a lunch hour where you would possibly go out to eat. Sometimes at home, without that structured in you just kind of forget about it and you work, work, work. So if you've been working straight for an hour, make sure you get up and do something and stretch. Do something enjoyable for a few minutes and give your mind a rest from what you're doing. |
