Before you feed your baby any formula you should talk with his pediatrician and decide upon which formula will be best for your baby.
Once you decide upon which formula your baby will drink, read over the enclosed instructions very carefully. The instruction will include specific directions for how much to feed different ages of babies and how to prepare each amount. A newborn infant should drink 2 ounces of formula at a feeding and as your baby gets older he will drink 4 ounces, 6 ounces and finally 8 ounces of formula at a feeding.
The basic rule of thumb is for every 2 ounces of formula you prepare, you will use one scoop of dry formula. So, to prepare a 2 ounce bottle you would use 1 scoop of formula, to prepare a 4 ounce bottle you would use 2 scoops of formula and so on. Once you have determined how much formula you intend to make fill the bottle to the line corresponding with that amount. After the water is in the bottle, scoop the dry formula into the bottle. Screw the nipple on securely and shake the bottle until the formula is well mixed.
Remember, be patient with your baby’s progress, be safe and always remember to put your baby’s needs first. |
